What are your cleaning procedures?

After each stay, all linens are removed from the cabin and laundered using the sanitation setting or washed in a germ-killing solution. We have always used Clorox and Lysol brand products to disinfect high touch surfaces with special attention given to the kitchen and bathroom. Soft surfaces are sprayed with an EPA approved disinfecting spray.

Hot tubs are drained, cleaned, and refilled with fresh spring water between stays. A clean filter is inserted, and the water is treated to adjust and balance the pH, alkalinity, water hardness, etc. The water is then shocked and sanitized using CDC recommended and EPA approved products.
What activities are there in the area for us to enjoy?

This area is popular for many outdoor activities such as rafting, kayaking, tubing, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and sightseeing. You won't be bored here unless you want to be, and for some folks that's exactly why they come... kickback, relax and do little to nothing! Check our Things to Do page for more info!
Where is the nearest grocery store?

Limited grocery items, and some take and bake meals, are available Trust General Store and Cafe, in Trust NC (4 miles south of cabins), or the Dollar General, Hillbilly Market, and Vaste Riviere Provisions in Hot Springs NC (10 miles north of our cabins). The full service grocery stores (Publix, Ingles Market, Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Food Lion, or Wal-Mart) are all 45 minutes to 1 hour or more away, so you definitely want to plan ahead!
Can we purchase wine or beer in the area?

Our cabins are located in Madison County which is a dry county. Beer and wine are available at most restaurants and stores in the town of Hot Springs (10 miles north of our cabins). You may also purchase beer, wine, and liquor in the city of Asheville, or the larger towns of Waynesville, Weaverville, and Maggie Valley. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own if you are of legal age.
How far are the cabins from the closest town/city?

Our cabins are approximately 10 miles to the historic town of Hot Springs, 30 miles to downtown Waynesville, and less than 35 miles from Asheville.
What is the weather like in different seasons?

Generally, our seasons offer comfortable temperatures. You should plan to dress appropriately for the season but be prepared with a sweater or jacket for spring/summer/fall evenings. We also suggest wearing flat, comfortable shoes.

Although it can be hot in the summer, evenings do cool off and you may be content having the windows open. Fall is a very popular season here because of the brilliant colors of the changing leaves. The temperature is usually cooler. Winter can be mild with a few inches of snow. It's a beautiful sight with snow covered trees and mountains. Usually the snow is gone within a few days.
Will we need a 4-wheel drive vehicle?

Our property is generally easy to access year-round. The cabins are located at the top of a single-lane gravel road--with possible two-way traffic. The road is well maintained but does have a steady incline and is approximately 1/3 mile from the state maintained paved road. A 2-wheel drive vehicle can easily climb the hill, but it may be more difficult for motorcyclists and some drivers. A 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle is recommended during the winter months. Although we typically get less than 15 inches total accumulation of snow a year, a 4-wheel drive/all-wheel drive vehicle MAY BE NECCESARY if snow is expected. If you're planning a trip here in the winter, it's best to monitor the weather closely.
Are we expected to clean prior to checkout?

We expect "normal" usage while staying. We will remove and launder (sanitize) all linens and thoroughly clean and disinfect the cabin after you checkout. This includes draining, cleaning, and refilling the hot tub and removing and disposing of accumulated trash.

Before you check-out, we ask that you wash the dishes, glasses, etc. that were used. Please leave the bed unmade and place all used towels in the hamper or leave them in the shower.
Where is the closest airport?

Asheville Regional Airport is approximately 45 miles from our cabins. Driving time will be about 1 hour and 15 minutes due to the mountainous terrain.
Can we hunt at your cabins?

No hunting or discharging of firearms is permitted on our property. If you want to have a hunting experience while in the area, visit Fowler Farms Sporting Clays.
